An aerospace company was in need of a low-cost manufacturing solution for an aluminum grommet and seal retainer assembly used in a hydraulics application. The company was purchasing two stamped components and then assembling them by hand in-house. After evaluating the function of the part, Demsey Manufacturing Co., Inc determined that the parts would require a complete redesign which would allow the part to be made with a totally automated assembly process. Using two 325 U.S. Baird transfer presses Demsey was able to produce the item at a lower cost and a much higher production rate than previous, which enabled us to save the customer money.
